Internal research tool

Niche Lab

Current status Phase 1 complete. Protected analytics disabled. Permission state: not_requested. YOUTUBE_ANALYTICS_REPORTING_APPROVED=false.

What the tool does today

Public-data discovery

Runs bounded searches across a configured niche taxonomy and preserves the exact query, result rank, run, request, timestamp, and subject-family evidence.

Metadata enrichment

Retrieves current public video and channel metadata, applies exact duration and publication-window filters, and records freshness and retention dates.

Auditable inventory

Deduplicates canonical videos without deleting discovery provenance and produces descriptive, source-labeled reports for one operator.

Phase 1 evidence

The completed collection stage sampled 42 candidate niches and 126 subject families. It produced a reproducible inventory without selecting or ranking a niche.

6,254discovery relationships
5,858unique canonical videos
1,946exact recent 4-30 minute candidates

Requested future scope

Niche Lab intends to request written acceptance for a narrow internal Analytics and reporting use case. Subject to the exact accepted scope, future work may include transparent YouTube-only comparative ratios, breakout research, repeated statistics and velocity, custom research scores, approved categorization, and limited clearly labeled projections.

None of those protected capabilities is currently implemented or enabled. An environment variable cannot unlock them by itself. A current evidence-backed permission record with the exact accepted capability scope is also required.

Policies and reviewer materials
